The annual fundraiser for the Pheasants for Hospitalized Veterans Auction includes a silent and live auction, 50/50 raffle and Wine Pull. Doors open at 4:00pm and live auction starts at 7pm. The auction will also be broadcast live on Owatonna Live, so you can join in the bidding even if you can't be here in person.
Since 1941- just a few months before the attack on Pearl Harbor, Minnesotans have been providing a pheasant dinner with all the trimmings to Veterans in Minnesota Veterans Hospitals and Veterans Homes. For decades, the program involved pheasant hunters donating part of their harvest, and featured the delivery trucks of the Minneapolis StarTribune collecting the hunters donations.
In the 1980's food safety laws moved the program from donated pheasants to farm raised birds. In order to fund this purchase, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion stepped up to raise and donate the funds needed. The Owatonna VFW and American Legion are proud to have been raising a substantial portion of the dollars required through our annual auction.
